Montserrat

Last weekend a few friends and I made a day trip to Montserrat. It's about an hour by train from Barcelona, so it was super easy. We arrived around noon, and the weather was nice but a little rainy. Montserrat is an absolutely gorgeous town in the mountains. From the train station we took a cable car up to where the main village is, and that was really fun. When we got there, there was a sort of parade festival going on, with a lot of children and family members dancing in the streets. Monserrat is home to a Benedictine abbey with a beautiful basilica, and the surrounding town is so cute. After admiring the basilica and bobbing in and out of the shops, we took the tram to the top of the mountain. There is a hiking trail up there, and so we went exploring.... and what we found was absolutely breathtaking.

El fin de semana pasado algunas amigas y yo hicimos un paseo a Montserrat. Es un viaje de mas o menos una hora por tren así que fue bastante fácil ir. Llegamos sobre mediodía, y hacía buen tiempo aunque había un poco de lluvia. Tomamos un funicular desde la estación del tren para llegar al pueblito, y eso fue muy divertido. Cuando llegamos, estaba ocurriendo un especie de festival con muchos niños y sus familias bailando en las calles. En Montserrat hay una abadía, y el pueblito es muy mono. Después de admirar la basilica y bobeando en las tiendas, tomamos un tranvía hacia la parte superior de la montaña. Hay un camino para excursiones, así que fuimos a explorar.... y lo que encontramos fue absolutamente asombroso.
